Washington, D.C.—ѻý of America (ѻý) today announced the joint release of the 2007 edition of the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) construction-related documents. EJCDC documents are the preeminent standard contracts for horizontal construction such as municipal and utilities construction.

“The importance of EJCDC contracts continues to grow for the construction industry,” said Chris Matthews, past Chair of EJCDC (Chris Matthews Construction, Birmingham Alabama).

The 2007 edition offers many significant improvements including: • Use of ѻý 221 Qualifications Statement and ѻý 200.1 Materials Price Escalation Clause; • Clarified actual knowledge requirement for Contractor’s liability for failure to report discrepancies and conflicts; and, • Clarified Owner’s obligations if Contractors encounter hazardous waste.

ѻý, American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) are the four sponsors of the EJCDC documents. While previously an active endorser, the 2007 edition of EJCDC documents marks the first time ѻý authored the construction documents as full partners in the drafting process.

“The 2007 edition represents the latest and best thinking of practicing engineers, owners, attorneys, and risk management experts,” said EJCDC Construction Committee Chair Jim Brown, Malcolm Pirnie.
