MASTER BUILDERS OF IOWA WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR SUPPORTING 9 HOMES IN 9 DAYS PROJECT FOR NEEDY DES MOINES COMMUNITY

Local Chapter Among Top Charitable Contractors' Groups, Receives Second-Annual ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ in the Community Award

The Master Builders of Iowa was among five contractors' chapters nationwide to be awarded for their charitable efforts last year, the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Charities announced today. The group won the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ in the Community Award for its support of the Hubble Construction's 9 Homes in 9 Days project, which built nine homes for needy Des Moines-area families.

"Just because contractors do hard work doesn't mean they don't have soft hearts," said Tom Brown, chair of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Charities, which sponsors the awards program. "These awards highlight the role our industry plays in building better communities and better lives for neighbors and the needy."

Brown added that the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ in the Community Awards were established last year to recognize the outstanding charitable and philanthropic efforts of the association's 95 chapters. Winners are selected by the board members of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Charities, Inc, Brown added.

The other four chapters awarded for their philanthropic activities were Associated Contractors of New Mexico for raising $100,000 for the Wounded Warriors program; the Arizona Builders Alliance for helping renovate Compass Behavior Health Center and the Mesa Association of Sports for the Disabled gymnasium; Georgia Branch ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ for its Operation Home Front work repairing a wounded veteran's home; and TEXO for raising funds for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and donated food, toys and bikes for local charities.
