Construction employment declined in 179 out of 337 metropolitan areas between April 2010 and April 2011, increased in 114 and stayed level in 44, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released Thursday by ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½.
Association officials noted that despite recent increases in private-sector construction activity, the layoffs are occurring as public investments in infrastructure decline.
